Dave Bolman

Provost and Dean

ACCOLADES:
As UAT’s Provost and Dean, I have to confess that my career has been shaped by two great professional passions: Learning and Technology. As one of the first people here at UAT when we started teaching classes, I’ve had the really cool job of building the college that I would have gone to if it had existed when I was choosing a school. I have always wanted collegiate learning to be as stimulating, engaging and creative as the best conversations over coffee.

My time, thoughts and energies have been spent developing UAT from an idea into a place where all of us get the flat-out amazing thing that technology, thinking and learning are. Along the way, we have built a campus, learning approach and programs that allows students and graduates to create and be resources for a world community that is desperately trying to get a handle on the constantly morphing future that technology represents.

Beyond being the Provost, I also teach topics in technology to our graduate students, publish the odd paper on the way that technology works, and speak on learning, technology and the future. I have been a professor of technology both at UAT and at Arizona State University and in the early days of computer graphics, I worked as a CG programmer for Motorola, Smithsonian’s National History Museum and an application developer for the stereoscopic-viewing algorithms used in head-mounted displays.

FUN FACT:
In my free time, I offset time spent in front of computers playing games (World of Warcraft – IceCrown server) by watching movies, playing with my family and doing the odd athletic thing or two (kayaking, fencing, gym and such).
