Homeschooled Students: Our technology university welcomes students from all types of educational backgrounds and encourages homeschooled students to apply. Due to the diverse nature of homeschool requirements from state to state, UAT requires the following materials in order to evaluate a student's academic history for acceptance.

If attending a nationally recognized and accredited homeschool program:

  • Unofficial transcripts

If NOT attending a nationally recognized and accredited homeschooling program:

  • Detailed homeschool transcripts (course titles, brief description of each course content, a grade or performance assessment for each course, details on duration of study, and expected graduation date) AND a second academic indicator such as the SAT, ACT, or college GPA (where 12 or more credits were completed at a single institution).

Please note: This information must be submitted within two weeks of applying in order for an application for acceptance to be reviewed by our technology College Admissions Committee. In addition, documentation indicating the homeschooling meets regulations determined by the state must be on file before the student may enroll. Other forms of proof of high-school equivalency will be considered on a case-by-case basis, but should be approved in advance by contacting the Office of Admissions at admissions@uat.edu.

Important Dates

UAT utilizes a rolling acceptance process that determines eligibility and accepts students year round. This means you will receive a decision within a few weeks of submitting your technology degree program application to our Office of Admissions.

There are some very important dates to keep in mind during your admissions process, so please review the Academic Calendar.

Benefits of applying early and early acceptance

The process of being admitted early can be a great benefit to you, since it allows you to create a relationship with a representative from the technology university who helps guide you every step of the way. In addition, applying early familiarizes you with G33k life and helps you begin to connect by:

  • Granting you access to UAT's intranet
  • Pairing you with an Admissions Advisor to help you and your family with this decision
  • Establishing a connection to campus events and news
  • Helping you become part of the UAT technology college community
  • Beginning the application process

UAT has introduced a locked tuition program for our technology college students. When you complete enrollment, the tuition published at that time will be your tuition for the duration of your studies at the University (provided you are actively enrolled in the University). This affords you the ability to plan for your entire technology degree program and alleviates the stresses associated with an increase in tuition over time.

Scholarships and financial aid

Paying for college is a major concern for every technology college student. University of Advancing Technology offers academic, community and other types of scholarships, and also offers resources that help you find outside scholarships and financial aid.

Transfers

Transfer credits are college-level credit hours that were earned at an institution other than UAT. Potential technology degree students may choose to have these evaluated by our Transfer Credit Specialist. There is no cost for preliminary evaluations.

There are benefits to transferring credits to UAT:

  • Save time and money and avoid the hassle of taking a class more than once by transferring credits.
  • The three most commonly transferred courses on campus at UAT are:
    • ENG101-Composition I
    • ENG102-Composition II
    • COM226-Communication in Technology

As a future technology college transfer candidate, we understand you have questions about UAT. Will your previous credits transfer and if so, how many? Is this technology college right for you? We make it convenient for you to get the answers you need.

Contact a UAT Transfer Specialist at 877.828.4335 for a complete preliminary transfer evaluation.

UAT Transfer Credit Policy

The University actively seeks to recognize college- level academic work completed by its enrolling students at Department of Education-recognized accredited institutions. All previous coursework must be completed prior to attending UAT to be considered for possible transfer credit. Transfer credit may be awarded for previous college-level courses that a student has successfully completed up to ninety (90) undergraduate credit hours towards a bachelor’s degree, thirty (30) undergraduate credit hours towards an associate’s degree and fifteen (15) graduate credit hours towards a master’s degree.

The following restrictions apply: A maximum of 90 credits may be transferred from any combination of two- and four-year institutions. Transfer credit will only be approved for courses that apply to a student’s program of study. Students must have attained a grade of C (2.0) or better in undergraduate coursework for credits to be awarded. Graduate-level coursework will be evaluated on an individual basis; credit for electives is limited but direct equivalents will be maximized. No credit will be awarded for any courses worth less than one credit hour or courses with sub-100-level course codes.

Previous academic coursework and test scores are evaluated by the University upon submittal of unofficial or official college transcripts. It is the student’s responsibility to request official transcripts to be sent to the Registrar. Students may use the College Transcript Request document, which can be downloaded in PDF form on the Intranet or requested from the Office of Admissions. Although unofficial transcripts may be used to generate a Transcript Credit Evaluation, official transcripts from all previously attended institutions from which credit was awarded must be on file with the Registrar prior to the end of the student’s first semester at UAT. Students will be notified via email of the results of their evaluations. Credits will not be made official until the student has enrolled. A one-time transfer credit fee of $100.00 will be charged to the student’s account. Students who switch to another degree program or re-enroll may have a re-evaluation of previously awarded transfer credits if the credits were earned prior to the student’s original start date. Please refer to the Re- Entry and Degree Change sections for more information.

Grade point averages will be computed based only on grades received for courses completed at University of Advancing Technology. Transfer credits will be awarded at the discretion of the University.

Veterans Administration Transfer Credits

Every veteran who applies for educational benefits through the University must provide official copies of academic transcripts from all previously attended institutions for evaluation. Veterans must follow the guidelines for applying for transfer credit outlined in the Transfer Credit for Previous Education section. Enrollment certification will not be completed and sent to the US Veterans Administration (VA) until this step is accomplished. The VA has ruled that all prior education at the post-secondary level must be evaluated by the University and transfer credit granted for applicable courses. University of Advancing Technology will follow the regulations regarding the certification of veterans in compliance with the VA.

Other Transfer Credits

Transfer credit can be obtained from:

  • Advanced Placement (AP) exams with a score of 3.0 or better
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) exams with a score of 5 or better
  • ACE-approved military coursework
  • College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams
  • Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) or DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) exams
  • Most Microsoft Corp., Cisco Systems Inc and Computing Industry Technology Association (CompTIA) certifications

How do I check on my transfer credits?

Once you have been granted acceptance to our technology college, you may logon to the Intranet and check your transfer credit status under Intranet>My UAT>My Transfer Credits or contact your Admissions Advisor.

Transfer Credit Policy: Transfer credits are evaluated by our technology college when the student submits unofficial or official school transcripts. Learn more about transfer credits and which credits will transfer by visiting the FAQ and transfer credit policy pages.

Graduate

UAT provides technology degree students with an intellectual atmosphere in which a wide range of multidisciplinary technology, research and innovation creations can thrive. The graduate college emphasizes emerging technologies, technology management, video game production, advancing computer science, and information systems security and assurance.

UAT actively recognizes enrolling technology degree students’ college level academic work completed at institutions recognized and accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) prior to the start of their programs at UAT. Awarding transfer credit is beneficial to technology college students for several reasons: it allows them to complete their technology degree in a timely manner; it is a determining factor in the amount of financial aid students are able to receive; it ensures that technology degree students are placed in the proper level course or courses; and it helps students properly build their schedule during their first semester at UAT.

Because we understand you have questions related to entering a graduate technology degree program including whether UAT is right for you, we make it convenient for you to get the answers you need to complete your application process.
