Fitness is important, so our gym is loaded with all the equipment you'll need to stay in top shape. The gym includes a treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike, weight bench, leg press and a NordicTrack Vault.

Think Tanks

Quiet, soundproof rooms, each with their own theme and unique equipment. Whether you want to play tabletop games with your friends, meet with a group from class, work on a new art project or plan out your next big idea, these rooms have everything you need from drafting tables to dry-erase walls to conference tables with built-in Ethernet ports.

Full Wireless Coverage

Freedom to traverse the web from the kitchen, game lounge, think tanks or wherever else in the building you need to connect.

Community Kitchen

As one of the more popular areas, you'll always find students cooking for themselves or cheffing up group meals on the ceramic cooktop and double ovens.

Internet-Connected Laundry

Why constantly worry about checking the washers and dryers to see if your clothes are done? Our internet-connected laundry facilities will send you a text message when the machine has finished its cycle. Additionally, our web interface allows you to see how many machines are open or in use before you even leave your room.

BBQs

The average temperature in Tempe is 84 degrees—perfect BBQ weather. Our gas-powered, self-igniting grills are the perfect place to kick back with your friends and enjoy the scenery or shoot some hoops on our outdoor basketball court. No charcoal or lighter fluid needed, all you have to do is bring the food.

Max the Catscot

UAT's mascot (catscot) Max has been living on UAT's campus since 2018. Born in September, 2017 our resident feline can be found curling up in the sun, watching birds and demanding pets from students.

Roommates
& RA Program

Roommates

Who you live with will profoundly impact your college experience. The Office of Residence Life understands this, so we'd like to give you the opportunity to find compatible roommates who will foster your growth throughout your educational journey at UAT. Here are some tips to help make the roommate search a whole lot easier.

Tips for finding a great roommate

  • Come visit campus during UAT Experience or some other event so that you have an opportunity to meet your peers in person. Visiting campus is a great way to get to know other students in your incoming class before you start classes!
  • Don't wait to find a roommate until last minute
  • Be honest with yourself about your roommate needs
  • Think about what kind of roommate you are
    • Are you difficult to live with?
    • What are some great things about living with you?
    • What are some things about you that others may find frustrating?
    • What are your habits? Do you go to bed early or late? Are you neat, messy or a little of both? Do you share, hate to share, will you share with permission?
  • Be realistic in your roommate requirements—no one is perfect
  • Search for commonalities: similar interests and hobbies, favorite books and games, tastes in music and movies

The Office of Residence Life will make every effort to ensure that roommate requests are fulfilled. However, we may be unable to fulfill some requests for various reasons, such as space limitations or other factors.

resident assistants

Resident Assistants

Resident Assistants (RAs) are peer mentors who live in each wing of Founder’s Hall to help build an inclusive community and are available to assist students with their transition to university life and also during their educational journey at UAT. RAs are current students who act as student advocates and mentors for the students living within the UAT community. RAs form a community by creating relationships, building rapport and mediating any conflicts between students. They are an informative source for campus activities, academic matters, campus and community resources, and administrative procedures.

To learn more about the RA program, or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact UAT's Office of Residence Life at founders@uat.edu or call (480) 351-7929.

Cost

Housing costs per Year

The price per student includes all utilities and internet.

Housing Application Fee

Lease & Housing Deposit

Unlike typical student housing agreements, UAT students sign a 12-month lease and are welcome to stay in their room in Founder's Hall over University breaks and all three (3) academic terms.

Prior to moving in, financially self-qualified students pay the last month of rent in lieu of a housing deposit. If the student applies with a guarantor that meets qualifications, a refundable $400 deposit is paid. This $400 is refundable if all move-out procedures are followed correctly and there are no damages.

FAQs

What should I bring to my new home at UAT?

Many students purchase items at local retailers once they have arrived in Tempe, but you should consider the following:

  • Bedding: pillows, pillowcases and XL twin-bed sheets
  • Towels, washcloths and any other linen
  • Personal toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothbrush, etc.)
  • Laundry supplies (hamper and detergent)
  • Alarm clock
  • Broom, vacuum and mop
  • Personal computer
  • School supplies
  • Wall decorations (posters, etc.)
  • Kitchenware (pots, pans, utensils, glasses, plates, etc.)
  • Woks, rice cookers, etc. (if you enjoy cooking)
  • Electronics (TV, DVD player, stereo, etc.)
  • Social Security card (or a copy of it)
  • Driver license or state identification card

When is the first day I can move in?

The first day you can move in depends on which semester you intend to begin at UAT. Move-in dates generally occur at least one full week before classes begin.

May I move in early?

The Office of Residence Life bases early and mid-semester move-ins to University-sponsored housing upon availability and approval. Residents who are approved to have an early or mid-semester move-in may not be able to live with preferred roommates due to availability. The pricing structure outlined under the "Cost" section begins from the first day that Residence Life check-in is scheduled, and all housing costs are due prior to move-in. Any early check-ins must be approved by UAT and Residence Life, and, if available, are extremely limited.

Is the campus a secure environment?

There is nothing as important to us as the safety and security of all members of the UAT community. The UAT campus is equipped with state of the art security cameras, after hours guards and Founder's Hall rooms are only accessible by key card. Every member of our community, all students, faculty and staff members are given the shared responsibility of helping us maintain a secure environment. Learn more about campus security.

What is the parking situation?

Students are encouraged to walk, bike and utilize public transportation. A UAT Parking Permit must be displayed on any vehicle parked in the UAT campus lot. UAT Parking Permits become available for purchase the first week of each semester through the UAT Intranet for $75 per vehicle/per semester. All parking, on campus and off, is at the vehicle owner’s risk.

Can I bring my service animal?

In accordance with federal laws, we welcome your service animal. If you have questions about service or emotional support animals, please reach out to Founder's Hall Staff.

How do I get a roommate?

All new residents submit a questionnaire and go through our roommate matching program to help find you a person you'll love living with. If you're moving here with a friend or would like to request a roommate, just let Founder's Hall staff know!

How do I get packages to my dorm room?

All packages sent to Founder's Hall residents should be addressed like this:
