Name: Bret Church Specialty: Game Art and Animation · What inspired you to want to be a professor? I just really love my industry and making art! I have been working in the industry for thirteen years and the right situation came along which brought me to UAT. I enjoy sharing when it comes to things I am passionate about and I am excited to be able to talk about my experience and knowledge with the students at UAT. · Do you have any projects that you're working on? Right now I have too many! I have been working full time with Unity game technology in developing Unity 3.0. This includes doing the animations for their featured locomotion system in Unity. In addition, I have been working on an Iphone game with two colleagues that are programmers. The project has been going for a while now and we are hoping to get our game out soon. · When you're not here, how do you unwind? I have always been fascinated with animation and I am inspired by movies that have great art and animation. Toy Story was the first animated film I ever saw and it really motivated me to want to be an animator. Great games also inspire me! I had the opportunity to work on Darksiders that recently came out. It was really rewarding to see it on the shelf and see people enjoying the game. Right now with my kids we are playing Naruto Storm. My kids and I are really into the animated series and the game is done really well. · When you're not working with students, what are you up to? What are some of the hobbies you like to engage in? Well, if eating food is a hobby then that's one of the things I love! My wife and I like to try out new restaurants and we love to go to the movies. My work is also my hobby. At home I love drawing, modeling, animating, etc. I like trying out new software and working on personal projects. I also enjoy reading, especially sci fi and fantasy. I just finished Eragon which is about a dragon that was recently made into a movie. · What music do you listen to? What device do you listen to it on? That's a good one, I like all kinds of music from instrumental to rock, but I am a huge fan of the 80's because that's the era I grew up in. I have an Ipod touch which I got for developing the game we are working on, but I also use it for my music too. |
