CSC100 Computer Programming Concepts CSC100 Computer Programming Concepts Credits: 4 Prerequisite(s): none The purpose of this course is to introduce the fundamentals of computer science and programming to those students majoring in this area. Students will become familiar with problem solving techniques and algorithm development using computers. This will include a structured high-level programming language. Topics will include flow of control, assignment, arrays, functions, input and output, among others.

CSC130 Object Oriented Design CSC130 Object Oriented Design Credits: 3 Prerequisite(s): CSC100 The objective of this course is to define the principles of Object Oriented Programming (OOP) - data hiding, encapsulation, inheritance and polymorphism - and to introduce to concept of design patterns. This course will introduce the student to the OOP way of thinking and problem solving. The main tool used in this course is the Unified Modeling Language, the industry-standard language for specifying, visualizing, constructing, and documenting the artifacts of software systems.

CSC208 Intro to Assembly (Intel) CSC208 Intro to Assembly (Intel) Credits: 3 Prerequisites: CSC100, CSC215 Working in programming goes beyond high level languages. It is important to have an understanding of the internal logic of computers. The objective is of this course is to develop primitive programs with assembly; understanding concepts like registers, 32-bit microprocessor architecture, assembly language programming, I/O considerations, exception & interrupt handling.

CSC280 Data Structures I CSC280 Data Structures I Credits: 3 Pre-Requisite(s): CSC100, CSC215, CSC130 Program specification and implementation of containers as abstract data types (ADT's); the structures include strings, vectors, stacks, queues, sequential lists, and binary trees. Students will work in teams to develop and produce a completed software project of significant scope.

CSC477 Formal Methods CSC477 Formal Methods Credits: 3 Prerequisite(s): CSC261, CSC262, CSC263 or CSC275 The purpose of the formal specification of a program is to provide a means by which its functionality can be verified to be correct and thereby eliminating software defects. This course is a study of the techniques and schema used to formally specify a program’s functionality. The student learns to specify the intended behavior of a program at the function level using state variables, concurrent assignments and structured logic with relational operators.

CIS425 Web Services CIS425 Web Services Credits: 3 Prerequisite(s): CIS312, CIS445 Web Services Description Language (WSDL) is an XML format for describing network services as a set of endpoints operating on messages containing either document-oriented or procedure-oriented information. Using iterative and incremental practices, Scrum generates the team productivity and morale benefits of agile development with the advantages of a simple implementation. CSC490 Advanced Embedded Systems CSC490 Advanced Embedded Systems Credits: 3 Prerequisite(s): CSC275, CSC280 This course is an advanced exploration of software development for embedded systems such as robotic hardware, cell phones, digital cameras, gameboys and other dedicated devices used in industry to control machinery.
