The Digital Video major will prepare students for positions in the video, gaming and animation industries. These majors will provide students with the necessary artistic concepts and technical knowledge to be successful in today's evolving marketplace.

Students in the Digital Video major will have the opportunity to take classes such as scriptwriting, storyboarding, cinematography, compositing, editing, 3D modeling, scene and lighting design and texturing, animation and texturing. Students are encouraged to incorporate courses from other majors within the Multimedia program.
Throughout the program, students will be guided through the process of producing completed works which will contribute towards a portfolio. Upon graduating from the program, students will have the skill and knowledge required to start a career in digital video and animation production.

Digital Video Objectives (BA)

  • Produce complete movies that artistically express the perspectives of the creators
  • Craft screenplays, develop storyboards and produce the pre-productionmaterials that are foundational to movie creation
  • Collaborate with other Digital Video majors to produce complete works
  • Master the use of professional quality digital video camcorders in the construction of viewable media
  • Critically analyze and implement scene lighting to effectively create moods through modeling and selective focus
  • Record high quality audio during video production, Foley and ADR work
  • Edit digital video and audio elements into complete short movies for presentation at public screenings
  • Incorporate visual effects and composite shots into complete works by employing industry-standard compositing tools and techniques
  • Use industry-standard non-linear editors and post-production tools to edit, mix and color grade music videos, documentaries, short movies and other projects
  • Prepare completed works for distribution in industry-standard formats
  • Demonstrate fundamental critical analysis skills through scholarly writing on the aesthetic and technical aspects of professional productions
  • Explore the latest technological and artistic trends of digital video through research and networking
  • Recognize and demonstrate the ethical use of digital media
