UAT: Private Scholarships
UAT is committed to providing all our students with the information they need to finance their education. Private Scholarships are non-UAT funded but may be of interest to UAT students. Private scholarships are organized by month and are sub-divided into two categories:

  • Technology Scholarships: Why not use your passion for technology to reduce college costs? The technology specific scholarships on this page may be of special interest to current and prospective students due to your focus on technology.
  • General Scholarships: There are many companies and organizations that offer a wide variety of scholarships with criteria relevant to your personal situation or interests.

Technology Specific Scholarships
Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Students pursuing a math, science or engineering-related degree who are in their sophomore or junior year.
  • Award: Each Scholarship covers eligible expenses for undergraduate tuition fees, books and room and board, up to a maximum of $7,500 annually.
Loreen Arbus Focus on Disability Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Open to student producers currently enrolled in a U.S. College, University or Community College. This award will be given to a student writer, producer or director who is disabled, to a student producer whose piece focuses on people with disabilities or to a piece that features a person with a disability as one of the main characters.
  • Award: $10,000.

General Scholarships
The Gates Millennium Scholarship
  • Eligibility:African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American and Hispanic American students with high academic and leadership promise who have significant financial need, and a cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 scale or have earned a GED.
  • Award: Varies
Mensa Education & Research Foundation College Scholarship Program
  • Eligibility: Students enrolled in a degree program in an accredited US institution of higher learning during the academic year following the application date and must currently be a resident of a participating American Mensa Local Group's area. For foreign students enrolled at college or universities in the US, students or their children must be Mensa Members.
  • Award: Variable

Microsoft Corporation
  • Eligibility: College undergrads in a computer science and/or computer engineering program.
  • Award: Varies
Google Anita Borg Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Women undergraduate students and graduate students going into undergraduate or graduate programs with Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field majors.
  • Award: $10,000
Wayne V. Black Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Entering college freshman or current undergraduate seeking bachelor degrees in Computer Science and Information Technology.
  • Award: $5,000
General Scholarships
Best Buy Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Best Buy Scholarships are available to current high school seniors. Students must demonstrate commitment to and involvement in volunteer community service.
  • Award: Awards of either $1500 or $10,000 to high school students
Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholarships
  • Eligibility: High School seniors, Undergraduate and Graduate students of Hispanic heritage. Must be a U.S citizen or legal permanent resident. All applicants must have a minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 and students must complete a FAFSA.
  • Award: From $1,000 to $5,000
Vegetarian Resource Group Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Graduating US high school seniors who have promoted vegetarianism in their schools and communities.
  • Award: Two $5,000 scholarships

Technology Specific Scholarships
International Communications Industries Foundation Audio Visual Scholarship
  • Eligibility: High School seniors and Undergraduate students pursuing degrees related to careers in the audiovisual industry such as Digital Video, IT, Networking and Software Development. Applicants must have a minimum 2.75 GPA, answer 2 essay questions and provide a letter(s) of recommendation.
  • Award: $1,200
AFCEA General Emmett Paige Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Current active duty, reserve or honorably discharged veterans enrolled in on-campus programs. Awarded to persons on active duty in the uniformed military services, to veterans, and to their spouses or dependents, who are currently enrolled full time in an eligible Bachelor of Science major. Minimum GPA requirement is 3.0 on 4.0 scale.
  • Award: $2,000
General Scholarships
Kohl's Kids Who Care Scholarship Program
  • Eligibility: High school students and younger.
  • Award: Up to $5,000
Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation
  • Eligibility: High School seniors and Undergraduate students pursuing degrees in Graphic Arts/Design.
  • Award: From $500 to $5,000
Illustrators of the Future Contest
  • Eligibility: Artists from all nations are accepted.
  • Award: $500 and entry into the Grand Prize Contest. Grand prize winner receives an additional $5,000
Hispanic Heritage Youth Award
  • Eligibility: High school seniors of Latino descent with an un-weighted 3.0 GPA who are pursuing college degrees in Engineering, Technology, Mathematics, Journalism and Sports.
  • Award: Up to $5,000
MyBookBuyer.com Textbooks for a Year Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Open to college or university students 18 or older who are legal residents of the United States.
  • Award: Grand Prize $1,250. Runner-up Prizes $250

General Scholarships
Veterans of Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and Iraqi Freedom Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Current active duty, reserve or honorably discharged veterans enrolled in online or on-campus programs who are currently enrolled in an eligible Bachelor of Science major.
  • Award: $2,500
The Humanist Essay Contest
  • Eligibility: If you are a student enrolled in grades 9-12 as of the entry deadline of April 3, 2008, and have thoughts on humanity and the future, you are invited to share your perception and vision by entering and essay. The contest is open to any student currently residing in the United States or Canada.
  • Award: $1,000
Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation
  • Eligibility: High School seniors and Undergraduate students pursuing degrees in Graphic Arts/Design
  • Award: From $500 to $5,000
Bank of America ADA Abilities Scholarship Program
  • Eligibility: High school seniors, college undergrads. Students need to purse a degree in Computer Systems.
  • Award: $5,000
Incight Scholarship
  • Eligibility: College Students with a documented disability (can be physical, learning, cognitive, etc.)
  • Award:$750
Lewer "Make Your Mark" Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Inbound international and study abroad students.
  • Award: $1,000
Little People of America Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Prospective and current students attending college or vocational school in the United States who have a medically diagnosed form of dwarfism or who are immediate family members of dwarfs.
  • Award: $250-$1,000
Patrick Kerr Skakeboard Scholarship
  • Eligibility: High school seniors with a CGPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale who will enroll as full-time students at an accredited college or university the fall after high school graduation. US citizenship is required
  • Award: Three $1,000 awards and one $5,000 award

ESA Foundation Computer & Video Game Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Women and minority high school seniors and college students. Must have a minimum 2.75 GPA and pursuing a degree that will lead to a career in computer and video game arts.
  • Award: $3,000

B. Davis Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any post secondary institution.
  • Award: $1,000
Fine Art Finals Scholarship Competition
  • Eligibility: Current undergraduate, graduate and incoming freshman students.
  • Award: Up to $1200
NAACP- Roy Wilkins Scholarship Fund
  • Eligibility: African American High School graduates, entering college freshmen 2.5 High School GPA.
  • Award: $1,000

Collegiate Inventors Competition
  • Eligibility: Undergraduate and Graduate College Students
  • Award: Up to $25,000
AFCEA Distance Learning/Online Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Minimum full-time Undergraduate Bachelor of Science sophomores through Master of Science students enrolled in online programs.
  • Award: $1,500
General Scholarships
Abbott and Fenner Business Consultants Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any post-secondary institution.
  • Award: $1,000
Collegiate Inventors Competition
  • Eligibility: Students enrolled full-time in any US or Canadian college or university at least part of the 12-month period prior to the date the entry is submitted. For teams, at least one member of the team must meet the full-time eligibility criteria.
  • Award: Up to 12 finalists receive an all-expenses paid trip to present their work to a panel of expert judges, and each finalist or team will receive a $2,000 cash prize. One undergraduate and one graduate winner or teams each receive $15,000. One grad prize winner or team receives $25,000. Academic advisors of each winning team also receive a cash award

Vanguard Women in Technology Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Merit-based scholarships of up to $8,000 to female undergraduate students entering their senior year of college who are majoring in computer science, computer engineering, web design, or another IT -related discipline. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at a selected accredited four-year institution of the student's choice.
  • Award: $8,000

Marine Corps Sgt Jeannette L. Winters Memorial Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Awarded to persons on active duty in the uniformed military services, to veterans, and to their spouses or dependents, who are currently enrolled full time in an eligible Bachelor of Science major. Minimum GPA requirement is 3.0 on 4.0 scale.
  • Award: $2,000
General Scholarships
Xerox Technical Minority Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Applicants must be academic high-achievers (3.0 or better GPA). Applicants must be US citizens or visa-holding Permanent Residents of African American, Asian, Pacific Island, Native American, Native Alaskan, or Hispanic descent.
  • Award: From $1,000 to $10,000

  • Eligibility: Current High School Seniors and College Students
  • Award: $500
General Scholarships
Horatio Alger Scholarship
  • Eligibility: High School seniors with plans to enter college no later than the fall following graduation. Applicants must have critical financial need ($50,000 or less adjusted gross income per family is preferred, if higher explanation must be provided) and demonstrate seriousness of purpose and service to others.
  • Award: Up to $20,000

Vice Adm. Jerry O. Tuttle, USN (Ret.) and Mrs. Barbara A. Tuttle Science & Technology Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Undergrad sophomores or juniors in on-campus programs. : Students must be in one of these Bachelor of Science majors: Computer Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, Computer Network Systems, or Information Systems Security. Primary consideration will be given to a military enlisted candidate.
  • Award: $2,000
LTG Douglas D. Buchholz Memorial Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Currently enlisted Fort Gordon, Georgia enrolled in online or on-campus programs who have completed a minimum of 15 semester hours in an eligible Bachelor of Science major. Minimum GPA requirement is 2.5 on 4.0 scale.
  • Award: $2,000

  • Eligibility: U.S. citizen or permanent resident currently attending full-time in post-secondary education in the United States. If you win, you must be willing to have your name and blog listed on their site.
  • Award: $10,000
Alliance for Young Artists and Writers Scholarship
  • Eligibility: students currently enrolled in 7th -12th grade
  • Award: Awards of either $1,000 or $10,000
Burger King Scholars Program
  • Eligibility: High school seniors work an average of 15 hours per week.
  • Award: $1,000
Duck Brand Duct Tape Contests
  • Eligibility: Current High School Seniors
  • Award: Varies
Patrick Kerr Skateboard Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Current High School Seniors
  • Award: Up to $5,000
International Student Loan
  • Eligibility: Undergrad and Graduate, Must have a U.S. co-signer that meets the necessary criteria Student enrolled in a degree or certificate program. Enrolled at least half-time as defined by your school. Attending a TERI***-approved school (UAT's Teri code number is 02559000) Proof of enrollment must be provided.
  • Award: Up to $40,000 annually.
SallieMae International Signature Student Loan
  • Eligibility: Undergraduate and Graduate
  • Award: Borrow as much as you need to pay for your education, up to the cost of attendance as certified by the school and confirmed by Sallie Mae.
Karrlin Field Memorial Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Current female UAT students majoring in a gaming field of study.
  • Award: $1,000
Gradefund
  • Eligibility: Current students.
  • Award: Similar to social networking sites like Facebook, GradeFund allows you to create a profile. Users can message sponsors-from parents to businesses-to ask for donations based on academic performance. Every $100 earns the student a check (minus a $5 transaction fee).
Tall Club International (TCI) Scholarship
  • Eligibility: Women who are at least 5'10 and men who are at least 6'2 who have been submitted as candidates by a TCI member club. Candidates must live in an area which has a TCI member club.
  • Award: $1,000 award
US Bowling Congress Scholarships
  • Eligibility: Variable
  • Award: More than $6 million in scholarship money is offered each season by bowling associations and councils, certifies tournaments and proprietors throughout the US
