UAT: Learning Research

Center for Learning Excellence

Mission: The Center for Learning Excellence (CLE) is part of the learning community of the University. Through research of learning and teaching methodologies, the CLE develops and supports educational models that enable the University to build innovative and balanced learning experiences, particularly within a technologically advanced learning environment, that equip its constituents for a lifetime of contribution to our global society.

CLE Broad Goals

  • The CLE's goal and initial priority is to apply its research toward the development of the UAT Faculty Certification Program. This program will ensure baseline effective teaching preparation within UAT's learning model for all faculty before they are assigned to the classroom. The program will also ensure the continuous advancement of faculty methods throughout their tenure with UAT.
  • Within the context of our identity, our students, and our Institutional End of Effective Teaching, the CLE is the center for ongoing research concerning the best practices of learning and teaching techniques and methodologies in the technological environment. The CLE regularly reviews and revises its methods based on those findings.
  • The CLE also routinely assesses instruction at UAT in relation to student learning outcomes as they are defined by each discipline, major and individual course. Using these assessments, the CLE will review and revise its approach to faculty support and development.
The CLE conducts research and publishes findings in the furtherance of its mission, the Institutional End of Knowledge Creation, expansion of educational methodologies and enhancement of the educational community at large.
