UAT's Strategic Plan is a physical map of how we will fulfill our
Mission, Vision, Values and goals.
Develop and implement methods to communicate and celebrate our accomplishments to faculty and staff.
When the University of Advancing Technology is communicating and celebrating accomplishments effectively to all UAT employees we will take pride in our accomplishments. This information and pride fosters excitement and the desire to communicate those accomplishments to UAT constituents.
Develop innovative, completed works through curricula, graduation requirements, contests, technical and educational resources, time and money.
Through various resources and effective planning UAT leverages its resources effectively to create multiple innovative and inventive technology works. These works are published and recognized both inside and outside of the UAT community. They will create an opportunity to increase resources, thereby creating reinforcing systems.
Create and implement a system that supports knowledge sharing throughout the University community, both peer-to-peer and peer-to-community.
Accomplishment breeds excitement which in turn creates a portal to innovation. This promotes the sharing of knowledge and ultimately returns to enhance programs that encourage thinking. UAT will not only be a reference but also a starting point for the creation and sharing of knowledge.
1. Build a capstone/thesis program to be implemented as a graduation requirement.
Early in their academic career each student cultivates an idea of how they will forward the body of knowledge in which they are passionate about or their field of study. Graduates will demonstrate their competencies in a public forum among peers and be able to reference their accomplishments long after they leave campus.
2. Develop and implement means to ensure that all alumni publish their work.
Because of our close relationship with all of our graduates, alumni will have the resources and the connections to publish their ideas and accomplishments in a variety of venues.
3. Develop and maintain support systems to develop thinkers.
There will be a suite of courses, required skill sets, and activities throughout the educational experience that cultivates the graduate's ability to think and innovate effectively in all situations.
4. Develop and implement a program that ensures alumni are versed in the impact of the ethical use of technology on society. Create an alumni organization.
UAT is the center of information about ethics and the impact technology has on society which has been developed through the contribution of UAT employees, each student, faculty and alumni over the course of a lifetime.
1. Encourage involvement with organizations and schools outside UAT so that every member engages with and contributes to those organizations through presentations and other active efforts.
Everyone develops and maintains connections with the broader community in a way that enhances UAT's reputation through involvement and contribution. We reach out and put our fingerprint on the community through professional organizations and through service. Each faculty, staff, and student develops deep connections to their communities through service, involvement in professional organizations, attendance and active participation at conferences and publication.
2. Build and maintain strong connections with outside organizations and schools.
We have established a known and continuously evolving community who are experts in their fields with whom we are deeply connected. This connection extends to both academia and industry and creates reciprocity of service. These individuals value what UAT provides to them and UAT values the contributions of this community.
3. Develop and foster communications of meaningful experiences to develop school pride.
School pride is experienced and seen outside the campus but finds its roots within the school community. Students feel that they belong to the community and are a part of something exceptional. Students attribute their success in life to their choice of college and their college experiences. All constituents are proud of UAT-external and internal. This pride is communicated to all constituents through both traditional and non-traditional means.
1. Maintain an environment that develops whole, centered students in geek-friendly ways.
Provide an environment where students feel comfortable and are allowed to express their true selves. This environment not only supports curricular endeavors but also develops the whole person through social, emotional and physical outlets, thus preparing them for a life of contributions within society.
2. Develop and reinforce the notion of the geek factor and communicate its importance by physically manifesting expressions of geekdom that contribute to our college environment.
UAT will create a physical environment which through form and function encompasses the unique nature of our students. The environment provides reinforcement by developing a feeling of excitement, creativity, and ownership of the surroundings in which learning occurs. Every vestige of the university will reek of high tech geekdom.
3. Develop UAT's Physical and Virtual environments that foster students spending more time in them.
Through a higher level of technology UAT breaks the barriers of communication and interaction between on campus and online students. By providing the ability for students to have complete immersion within the learning community, regardless of time and space, they are motivated and become more involved.
4. Implement an adaptive course-level intelligent educational system.
UAT supports a curriculum system that allows students to customize their learning experience at the learning activity level through branching curriculum designs. Curriculum maintains the learning outcomes of the program and meets the requirements of the program of study. This system engages all learning styles and provides recommendations for learning activities while maintaining an open choice atmosphere for the student.
5. Define the direction of technology and learning by advancing and promoting best future practices, both physically and online, for a technology and learning environment.
Innovation and technological creation happens at UAT, first. Our undergraduate and graduate students are leaders in their respective fields. UAT's advancing technology programs are the driving force behind industry innovation and our students' future employers continue to seek UAT graduates for their own technological creations. UAT staff and faculty demonstrate their advancing technological skills through the physical equipment and hardware they use on a daily basis.
6. Develop an online learning and college environment that profoundly increases interaction with people, as well as the development of new connections and experiences.
The UAT college experience is hospitable to all students: online and on campus. All UAT learning environments are hosts to collaboration at a global level, introducing all students to a unique learning experience both inside and outside of the classroom.
7. Exemplify the design and use of collective spaces.
UAT is a model for open, collaborative learning environments. Our unique perspective on student, faculty and staff collaboration allows all constituents to innovate within fields of technology.
8. Create and implement a paperless environment.
Among the academic communities, UAT is known as one of the few colleges that welcomes a truly paperless setting.
